Moodle: How-to reset exam attempts or Reopen exam sessions

This guides provides instruction on how to reset/reopen an exam session.

This may be necessary in the following two specific cases:

  • A new attempt needs to be provided by the exam organizer.
  • User’s session interrupted or timed out - if the user’s session has timed out or user was dropped out in the middle of the exam.

To reset/reopen an exam session, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the proctoring log via Moodle Site Administration Reports Proctor by Constructor log:

  2. Click on New Entry next to the user’s unsuccessful attempt:

  3. After clicking New Entry, a green notification will appear at the top confirming the reset/reopening of the session:
