I can't see messages during Perculus Plus screen sharing, what should I do?

Method-1: Turning on Notifications

  • After entering the Perculus Plus virtual classroom session;
    1. First, a pop-up window opens based on the lock icon in the upper left corner of the browser and asks for location permission, this information is kept anonymously and used as analysis.
    2. When checking the camera during the system check, or after skipping the system check and clicking on the camera icon in the upper right corner, a pop-up window will open depending on the lock icon in the upper left corner of the browser and you will be asked for camera permission, this permission allows you to share your camera live.
    3. When checking for a microphone during a system check, or after skipping the system check and clicking on the camera or microphone icon in the upper right corner, a pop-up window will open depending on the lock icon in the upper left corner of the browser and you will be asked for microphone permission, which allows you to share your camera live.
    4. Important: After clicking the "Sharing" button and clicking the "Screen Sharing" button, a pop-up window will pop up in the middle section and you will be asked to choose the screen sharing format. When the Screen Sharing drop-down list is opened, a pop-up window opens based on the lock icon in the upper left corner of the browser and you are asked for notification permission, this permission allows you to receive incoming messages as windows notifications while you are screen sharing.
  • Click on the "Share" button.
  • Click on the "Screen Sharing" button.
  • Depending on the lock icon located in the upper left corner of the browser, a request for permission to "Show Notification" opens in the pop-up window. Click on the "Allow" button. If you don't receive a request for permission to show notifications, you may have previously allowed or blocked notifications.
  • Click on the lock icon in the upper left corner of your browser.
  • The permissions you have already granted will be listed.
  • If the drop-down list to the right of the Notifications text says "Blocked", click on the article.
  • Select "Allow" from the drop-down list.
  • Notifications are only active when screen sharing. Notifications are also stopped when screen sharing is turned off.
  • Thus, messages can be displayed during screen sharing.

Things to Consider:

  • If Windows focus assist is turned on, notifications won't come. How do I turn off focus assist?
    1. Click on the "Notifications" button at the bottom right of your screen.
    2. If the usage tools are collapsed, click the "Expand" button.
    3. Turn off the focus assist by clicking on the box with the word "Focus Assist" and the moon icon until it says "Off".
    4. Notifications will start arriving when the message is sent.
  • I've turned off focus assist, I still can't get notifications. What should I do?
    1. You may have blocked notifications from your computer.
    2. Click on the "Notifications" button at the bottom right of your screen.
    3. Click on the "Manage Notifications" button at the top right of the pop-up window that opens.
    4. The "Notifications and actions" page opens.
    5. In the Notifications section, turn the notification control switch under the text "Receive notifications from applications and other senders" to the "On" position.
    6. When you scroll down the page, in the "Receive notifications from these senders" section, move the notification control switch to the "On" position to the right of "Google Chrome".
    7. Notifications will start arriving when the message is sent.

 

Method-2: Using a Second Screen

  • Connect a second screen to your desktop or laptop computer.
  • While opening the window where Perculus Plus is open on one screen, open the application or browser tab where you will share the screen on the other screen.
  • Click on the "Share" button.
  • Click on the "Screen Sharing" button.
  • Select the other screen where the application you will screen share is open.
  • If you're going to share audio. Click on the box to the right of the "Share audio" button.
  • Click the Share button.
  • In this way, you can follow the messages from one screen and take action on the shared application from the other screen.
  • In this case, you may be disturbed by the constant notification on the screen. You can block notifications by clicking on the lock icon located at the top left of your browser.

 

Method-3: Adding a Second User to the Session and Following the Chat from the Phone or Tablet

You can add an external participant to your session to follow along from your phone or tablet. You can follow the messaging on your phone by sending yourself the participation link of the external participant.

 

To Add External Participants;

  • After creating a new session in Perculus Plus, enter the "Sessions" section.
  • Among the listed sessions, click on the three dots after the "Status" column to the right of the session you have created.
  • Click on the "Participants" or "Details > Participant List" links.
  • Click on the "Add User" button at the top right of the participant list that opens.
  • Click on the "External Participant" tab next to the "Find User" tab.
  • Type the "Name, Surname, E-mail and Phone" information of the person you want to include in the virtual classroom.
  • Select the "Instructor" option in the "User Type" section to make the person you added an instructor.
  • Click on the "Add to List" button.
  • Click on the "Participants to be Added" tab.
  • After making sure that the person has been added, click the "Save and Close" button.
  • You've now added an external participant to your session.

 

To Get the External Participant's Participation Link;

  • After creating a new session in Perculus Plus, enter the "Sessions" section.
  • Among the listed sessions, click on the three dots after the "Status" column to the right of the session you have created.
  • Click on the "Participants" or "Details > Participant List" links.
  • Click on the three dots after the "Groups" column on the far right of the person you added.
  • Click on the "Copy Link" button.
  • Open this copied link from your phone by sending it to yourself.
  • So you can connect to the session from a second device and keep track of the messaging.

 

To See Messaging from Phone and Tablet;

  • After adding a new user, connect to the system with that user from your phone.
  • If you are following on a phone or tablet, click on the round icon with three straight lines in the lower right corner of your mobile device.
  • The messaging screen will open.
