If you see that a name of a student or a few students appear in the block “Need support in making progress”, it means that this student is struggling, as they have made 4 mistakes in the same type of task. The session, on which the learner comes back to the same task for the 4th time and fails the task, is marked red.
It means that Calcularis tried to provide all support to the learner including practicing predecessor skills, but the student still can’t move forward in the program on their own. This student needs your help.
How can you help struggling learners?
-
Look carefully at the task the student is struggling with
-
Try to ask the student questions about the task, why it turned out difficult for them
-
Try to use other supplementary resources to help the student understand the concept of the task
-
If a student seems to understand the concept, you can ask them to practise this type of task in Free Training of Calcularis. Supervise them while they practise.
-
The student can continue with the guided training in Calcularis.
-
See if the name of the student disappears from the list of students who need support in making progress. Normally it happens when the student makes adequate progress with the task they were struggling with.
